Every Wednesday night, from June through August the Chapel invites the international students working in Corolla to join us for a night of food, fun and fellowship. Sharing the unconditional love of Jesus to many who have not heard, experienced or may have even feared who we are as followers of Jesus Christ. Far from home many students have found support and love through the volunteers that serve them each week.
The Chapel has collected and refurbished close to 200 bikes that are made available for the students to use during the time they are here. Students may live up to three miles from where they work and with no public transportation, getting from their homes to work and back can be both time consuming and physically taxing when you figure in the workday as well. Building relationships and sharing God's love. Amazing friendships which circle the globe.
When possible our volunteers offer trips off the Outer Banks and to historical sights so the students can experience a little more of America, our history and the diversity of the American culture. Again building relationships and opening doors. Opportunities for exploring the Christian faith are a part of the ministry as well with study groups and one-on -one conversations and testimony.
The Chapel uses its 15 passenger van to take advantage of ministry opportunities up and down the Outer Banks and Virginia as well.
Food is collected during the Thanksgiving season for seniors who are in need and others identified through our local Social Services. Each family received 10 bags of groceries. The local "Extensions" group helps with this effort.
Working with the "Extensions" group a number of Foster Children are identified and sponsored for Christmas. Over 35 children were sponsored this year. A blessing to the children and our community as well.
On Easter Sunday, the day begins with a "Son-rise" service on the Corolla Light pool deck overlooking the ocean. This is followed by 3 additional services at the Chapel, 8:30, 10:00 & 11:30
On April 29th 2023 from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm Corolla Chapel will be hosting a Lifeway Simulcast Women's Conference. Reaching into the lives of the women in our community and the surrounding area is on the hearts of many. Opportunities for ministry to women through retreats, seminars and Bible Studies are an important aspect of the ministry of Corolla Chapel.
The "Pastor's Study" meets each Sunday at 8:55. The study focuses on the Scriptures which is the primary text for this class. A weekly Bible Study meets on Thursday at 10 am throughout the year. This is a true "Bible Study" as its source material is the Bible.
